As your MP in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell and as one of the first Green MPs in the history of Canada, I pledge to work towards achieving the following if elected:

  1. Create jobs by:

              a.     Investing in people, especially youth, through apprenticeship, training and retraining programs designed to allow residents to remain in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell after graduation or after a career change

              b.    Growing the agriculture and supporting service industry by opening up new markets for local food, especially in Ontario and Quebec

              c.    Attracting new manufacturing and research and development businesses to Glengarry-Prescott-Russell

              d.    Supporting existing local businesses like Ivaco in Hawkesbury that provide stable jobs and help form the foundation for future economic growth in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell

2.    Focusing on Health Prevention and direct access to better and more timely support from home-care givers;

3.    Demand a federal moratorium on new dumps and an analysis of the capacity and future health of existing dumps;

4.    Take action, in conjunction with the City of Ottawa and the Ontario government, to bring commuter rail to Rockland by extending Ottawa’s current Light Rail (LRT) plan while also taking advantage of the existing rail lines for a Go Train like they have in Toronto;

5.    Request the fair and just appropriation of the Federal Gas tax collected at the gas pump to support municipal grants for infrastructure projects in Eastern Ontario like the sewage extension project in Casselman;

6.    Support la Francophonie in the creation and retention of services for Franco-Ontarians here and francophone across Canada;

7.    Rebuild Canada’s reputation in the world in the fields of environmental protection, duty of care, peace-keeping and peace-making;

8.    Propose a national referendum on Electoral Reform to:

       a.    Ensure elections only take place every four years

       b.    Change our first past the post electoral system to a new system that better reflects the voting intentions of all Canadians, like proportional representation

I have enjoyed the many lively discussions I have had with voters during this election and I appreciate your support.

On May 2nd, it’s time – Be bold, Vote Green!
