SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Ran as a Green Party of Canada candidate in the 2008 federal election.
- Established and delivered a new line of business in the provision of program management services as part of MHPM Project Managers Inc. a firm that has successfully delivered over 4500 construction projects worth more than $5 billion and operating across North America. Acted as a consultant to municipalities, universities and other private‐sector clients.
- Provided program and project management advice to senior levels of Infrastructure Canada for the operational delivery of four Infrastructure programs totalling $4 billion, comprising strategic and community programs in support of infrastructure renewal across Canada.
- Managed major capital investments and major renovations to PWGSC’s accommodation portfolio totalling some 6 million m2 and worth some $9 billion. Directly responsible for 330 employees and the delivery of two renewal initiatives for centralized portfolio management and the establishment of office standards for the federal government while managing ongoing business.
- Managed the Canadian Housing Agency’s housing portfolio and the Department Foreign Affairs and International Trade’s Europe portfolio, including planning, coordination of maintenance, fit‐up and construction projects, and environmental analysis.
- Participated, with direct responsibility and accountability, in the planning and implementation of all protocol, correspondence and business activities in support of the Deputy Minister of PWGSC and in support of meetings and travel of the Chief of Defence Staff in DND, including engagements with the most senior levels of Canadian Federal and Provincial governments, Allies, NATO, and the United Nations.
- Managed the Army’s portfolio of assets on behalf of the Commander Land Force Central Area and all engineering‐related matters in the Province of Ontario, including army operations, training, force development, personnel, environment, equipment, infrastructure, properties and related business cases.
- Directly managed many reengineering projects including the planning and implementation of the complex activities related to the 1994/1995 budget cuts to army infrastructure in the Province of Quebec. Planned, implemented and directed cuts to the infrastructure and logistical support, and cocoordinated the participation of all units affected by the reduction. Managed a workforce of 450 persons in a union‐based environment. Negotiated a series of agreements with all affected parties to achieve the mandatory budget reductions while ensuring the well‐being of the remaining employees.
- Managed the construction component of a multinational project between Canada and the United States for the modernization of the NORAD early warning radar system. Responsible for the provision of infrastructure for three new long‐range radar installations on the east coast of Canada at a project cost of $120 million and management of a $330 million project to provide infrastructure for 39 new short‐range radar installations across Canada’s North.
- Planned and delivered leadership and management training and education to military officers and civilian managers at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineers at Chilliwack, B.C. Deployed as a member of a United Nations humanitarian mission in Pakistan to provide instruction on mine awareness and recognition to Afghan refugees.
